Do you feel like an omega because you don’t know these sigma alpha male brainrot terms? Well, we’ve got your back! Here are some kid-friendly brainrot terms so that YOU can be a gigachad fr! This was made by all the freshmen Tiger Tribune members, as we the shawties who cook!

Alpha

Meaning: An alpha male (or female, though the former is more common in brainrot) is someone who leads a group of people while being extremely charismatic, originating from the internet “hierarchy of males”, which was an unhealthy promotion of toxic masculinity back before it devolved into a brainrot trend. (All related “See Also” section excluding Chad also refers to the hierarchy.) Otherwise, it could reference alpha memes, where a person acts as a degenerate pretending to be a werewolf. (No, that’s literally the joke. I know, it’s crazy for me as I say it out loud for the first time too.)

Ex: “It was clear that Mr. McCabe was the alpha in the English hall. Sorry, Mr. Kimble.” “You have made Alpha ANGRY.”

Arc

Meaning: This is taken from manga storytelling to describe a time that a person is in currently, usually with the implication that it’s cliche or unimportant. This means the same as “era”.

Ex. “My bad grade on my math test caused me to go on my villain arc.”

Aura

Meaning: This is a theoretical measurement of how much the general public thinks you’re cool or awesome. (It can, however, be used to describe the ‘Cool Factor’ you have with an individual.) The biggest way to “gain” aura, according to most people, is to pull a trick shot on something or someone, (though really anything can qualify, like hitting a good comeback), and “losing” aura most often happens when you do something embarrassing in front of a crowd of people. If you lose enough aura, you’ll have negative aura, which is very bad. If you do something super cool, you gain aura points. To add on to this, aurafarming is a common practice done by someone where they will constantly make moves to appear cool, to the point where it feels forced or fake. This is a common practice of someone who is doing too much.

Ex. “When I slammed a dunk on the referee during halftime, that was so much aura [gained].” “I lost aura with Tyler after I told him his shoelaces were cool.”

Baddies

Meaning: A beautiful girl or girls, though sometimes used for males too. THERE ARE TWO CRITERIA, ACCORDING TO THE URBAN DICTIONARY, OF BEING A BADDIE. A.) They must be really attractive. B.) They must slay in everything they wear, whether it be a dress or sweatpants.

Ex. “She was such a baddie!”

Beta

Meaning: A beta is someone who is submissive and blindly follows the commands of anyone who offers them leadership. This can also be used for someone weaker or less skilled than the “Alpha” of the group. Generally an insult.

Ex. “You’re such a beta for not standing up to that guy taking your lunch money.”

Bro [past tense verb]

Meaning: This is derived from a lot of common YouTube and TikTok comments that are notorious for just describing what a person is doing in the video. Outside of that, it’s usually just used when someone does something out of the ordinary or seemingly crazy.

Ex. “Bro visited his friend ” “Bro did NOT just get a 63% ”

Buns

Meaning: Buns is a way to describe a subject or piece of media that’s really bad.

Ex. “Skibidi toilet is buns.”

Chad, gigachad, etc.

Meaning: A chad is a person who is good and does nice things for other people. It can also be used ironically to describe an absolutely deplorable person. A gigachad is the same thing but carried up several notches.

Ex. “He was such a chad for helping that old lady carry her groceries.”

Chopped

Meaning: To be ugly and/or have an awful haircut.

Ex. “You’re chopped bruh.”

Cooked

Meaning: To be cooked means to put yourself in a position where something extremely bad is imminent, but you’re unable to do anything.

Ex. “The report card is arriving today and I’m so cooked.”

Crashout

Meaning: To either rage out of proportion to how bad something is or to have a stress-induced breakdown.

Ex. “I’m gonna crash out because of this test.”

Doing too much

Meaning: Someone who is doing too much (or DTM) cares excessively about something that doesn’t matter in the long run. It can also be used for someone who cares way too much about impressing someone or aurafarming.

Ex. “All this time Crossword Guy has spent on an article about brainrot shows that he’s doing too much.”

Drip

Meaning: This is used to describe clothing that is either extremely cool or can be used ironically to describe clothes that are extremely uncool. The adjective version of this is “Dripped out.”

Ex. “I’m gonna wear some drip for BOTC spirit week.”

Fanum tax

Meaning: To execute a fanum tax means to steal your friend’s food.

Ex: “I’m gonna fanum tax somebody.”

Fumble

Meaning: To fumble means to drop L rizz on someone. (To try to flirt with someone and get rejected OR to give someone that already likes you the ick.)

Ex. “I fumbled on my crush, and I lost aura points for that.”

Glaze

Meaning: To glaze means to give constant compliments or constantly take the side of a specific person or persons, usually implying that they are not deserving of the reverence that the person “glazing” is showing them.

Ex. “The glaze that Mr. McCabe has for Lord of the Flies is crazy.”

Meaning: This was a statement said by Logan Paul in an advertisement for Lunchly (See Lunchly, Prime, etc.) and really doesn’t mean anything. You’ll find that that’s a lot of these.

Let them cook, cooking, etc.

Meaning: To let them cook means to let somebody do something they’re good at. If I’m cooking, that means let me do something well.

Ex. “I’m gonna cook on this assignment.”

Locked in

Meaning: To be/stay completely focused on one thing, almost to the point where it’s unhealthy.

Ex. “You need to lock in.”

Lowkey, highkey

Meaning: Lowkey is to say something with minimal attention (to not make a big deal of it, being subtle, quiet) while highkey is the opposite, to say something in an extreme way to express strong things.

Ex. “Lowkey, I don’t like my class.” “Highkey, my class sucks so badly.”

Low taper fade (MASSIVE)

Meaning: This is in reference to a meme where a Fortnite (video game) streamer glazes the low taper fade meme’s popularity on TikTok. “The low taper fade meme is still MASSIVE!” It has no meaning other than its face value.

Ex. “You should get that LOWWW TAPER FADE.”

Lunchly, ***prime*, etc.**

Meaning: These are Mr. Beast products that are known for not being the best. Whenever someone brings this up, it’s usually to appreciate them ironically.

L, W [word]

Meaning: These are two adjective words (or letters) that state how cool or uncool something is. If it’s L, standing for Loser, it means it’s bad. If it’s W, standing for Winner, that means it’s good.

Ex. “Those were some W moves you pulled off at that chess competition.” “That blunder was straight L plays man.”

Mogging

Meaning: Mogging is when a person outperforms another person in overall attractiveness.

Ex. “I mogged Tyler after I pulled up with even cooler shoelaces.”

Nonchalant

Meaning: Someone who is nonchalant just does not care about anything, in a way that makes them cool or respected. This is most always a compliment, often used when one has kept their cool in a stressful or aggressive situation.

Ex. “You were so nonchalant when Tyler crashed out at you for having cooler shoelaces.”

Omega

Meaning: An omega is someone who is not at all attractive to the opposite gender, usually referring to a male. Otherwise, it can just be used as an adjective for something worse than beta.

Ex. “He thought he was rizzing, but he just looked like an omega.”

Only in Ohio

Meaning: Based on a meme claiming that crazy things happen in Ohio, so saying, “Only in Ohio” means you think something is crazy or random.

Ex. “Did that seriously happen to you? Only in Ohio.”

Pull

Meaning: To try and pull a person means to try and get a person romantically.

Ex. “You should go pull that baddie.”

Meaning: If you say you have rizz, you’re saying you have charisma and can pull. If you’re saying you’re gonna rizz up someone, you’re gonna flirt with them.

Shawty

Meaning: Shawty is a word for someone who is not as tall as the average person, AKA Lilly Douglas. It’s also used as a term of endearment, often for girls.

Meaning: A sigma male is an ironic term for someone whose entire claim to coolness is romanticizing depression and having no friends. Otherwise, it can just be used to describe something good without any added baggage.

Ex. “I bet that dude sitting alone at lunch feels like a sigma right now.” “This article is so sigma!”

Skibidi

Meaning: It’s referring to a meme of a head in a toilet; it can mean many things. For example, it can mean good or bad. It’s case-by-case, really. Oftentimes, it is used to further drive the point of whatever the tone dictates.

Ex. “You’re so skibidi!” (This, with a cheery tone, means ‘good’.) “You’re so skibidi.” (This, with a more menacing tone, means ‘bad’.)

Those who know, Balkan rage, Brazilian phonk, Stillwater, etc.

Meaning: This has no meaning; it’s based off of several memes, and people do say it, but it doesn’t have anything to it other than its face value.

Ex. “Did you see that stillwater? It made me balkan rage! Those who know ” (see? It makes no sense). (Expert on these terms here, Crossword Guy, this is not at all how they are used. They are almost exclusively used individually with zero relation to what’s happening around them. Pim is simply not one of those who know.)

Meaning: This comes from multiple memes, but it essentially combines 3 different words that mean something similar to something someone’s doing. Without the context of these memes, it really means nothing, but it’s still used slightly often enough in speech (at least by me, Winnie talking) to actually have specific examples!

Ex. “I’m such a reading pilled comprehensioncel. I’m on my understanding literature arc. Giving off educatedcore vibes.”

Hello, newfound Dear Reader! If you stubled upon my page, you are doing one of two things – A) You are looking through every staff profile, I’m nothing special, you want me to get on my crossword hobbled knees and beg for your interest as a viewer, or B) You’re wondering who put together those absolutely beautiful website ads / homepage / calendar events / a million other things, and that’s not just me running out of examples. Either way, you are on my page, you have kept reading rather than turning away in disgust and moving on to Leighya’s bio, and I am nothing if not a gracious host. In the metaphorical house that is this website, thisis my little bedroom, so I’m going to scoop all my metaphorical Fallout merch and various other nerd crap into my metaphorical closet, and give you a non-metaphorical explanation of who I am. Well, you just sat through a paragraph of essentially nothing being said (Mr. McCabe may call that an “introduction paragraph”) and, unless you are very VERY dense (it’s okay, I’ve worked with dense readers before. How do you think I got temporarily vilified in November?) you’ve probably noticed that I’m very talkative. Okay, yeah, I’m a yapper. You won’t find anyone in Tiger Tribune as yappalicious as me, but you also won’t find anyone in Tiger Tribune who takes so few off-days. The truth is, Dear Reader, writing is FUN for me. (Horrified gasp!) It’s probably fun for the others, too, but it’s especially fun for me. The enjoyment of setting up a tone, (currently I’m in “charming condescension”. Do you like it?) ignoring basic grammar rules to make a piece flow better, it’s one of the most basic pleasures of the flesh! (And then you’re all like, “What does that mean, Crossword Guy? What are the other ‘basic pleasures of the flesh’?” Well, um, to answer that, Dear Reader, I have backed myself into a corner with this thought process! You’ll learn all about those in Health class, but I’m going to cut to an indent right about now. And by that I mean food. It’s food, man.) So, you’ll notice, if you ask around, that I go by many names. Winnie, Crossword Guy, Coach Comet, Ainsley Jarvis, Slightly Darker Shawn Spencer, That Real Awful Guy Jerry, what do they all mean? Well, for one thing, I could explai half of those names by the fact that I’m in Theater. We get a lot of names that are not neccessarily our names in that class. The others, well, any good author, artist, or practitioner has to have a good furson- PERSONA- PERSONA, I MEANT PERSONA. It’s just a simple law of the jungle, and by jungle we mean classroom, and by we, we mean I. Confusing? Good. It’ll distract you. See, without an epithet, we are nothing. It doesn’t even have to be a good one. Think about it, would you rather be known as “Kyle” and be instantly forgotten about the moment people take their eyes off you, or would you rather be “The Kid Who Peed His Pants Onstage During Night Of The Arts”, and be forever immortalized in Granite Falls history? It’s just a matter of recognition. We’re four paragraphs in, and it seems like we really haven’t gotten anywhere, have we? Should I just pile on essential information here so I can make up for your lost time? I’m a Freshman. (Note to self: Remember to edit in Sophomore next year.) I create the crosswords, minigames, horoscope, website formatting (some of it), articles, more horoscopes that never get published because the editors don’t go over it in time so by the time it’s finished and ready to publish the stars in question have already passed (I’m still kinda bitter about that, Allyssa), and a lot of art and thumbnails, some of which will never see the light of day. I am Director of Diversion, President of Preamble, and Judge of All That Is Nonsensical. It’s my unofficial job, none of which ever will go on a Tiger Tribune jacket, unfortunately. I have a lot of nerd interests that I can go on and on about (ask Paul. Or really anyone.) and a deep hatred for both Edward and Jacob. (YOU CAN DO BETTER THAN THEM, BELLA! HALF THE MEN IN WASHINGTON WOULD KILL FOR A GOTH GIRLFRIEND!) To be honest, I just enjoy the little things. That’s what makes a newspaper shine, not the bulk, or the front page, or what the other writers pour their heart and soul into, it’s me, all me, because that’s just the way the world works! (For the denser among you, Dear Readers, I’m being sarcastic.)
