(This article contains opinions and spoilers for KPop Demon Hunters)
Welcome! Welcome, students of Granite Falls High School, and welcome back to the new school year of 2025-2026! I am here to discuss the wonderful movie: KPop Demon Hunters! Yes, the movie that was released on August 23rd, 2025. On release, this movie was very, very hyped, with good reason in my oh-so humble opinion. This multi-record-breaking movie is renowned for being one of Netflix’s most-watched movies, a Record Holder award, having the song “Golden” be the most-listened-to song produced by a K-pop girl band, and many more awards that would take more pages than needed.
The plot follows Huntr/x, a K-pop girl band consisting of three members: Rumi, Mira, and Zoey, and they perform in Korea, particularly in Seoul. They are demon hunters, as the title suggests, who also create songs to encapsulate the support of fans and make something called the “Golden Honmon.” The Golden Honmon means a world eternally safe from demon breakthroughs. In contrast, the antagonists are a demon boy band. They call themselves the Saja Boys: Jinu, Abby, Romance, Mystery, and Baby Saja. The Saja Boys’ goal is to “steal the fans” and feed them to Gwi-Ma, the major “lord” in the demon’s underworld. Subsequently, the stealing of fans will also destroy the Honmon, unleashing demons onto the world once more.
Now that the whole plot summary has been covered, here’s my opinion. KPop Demon Hunters (which I’ll now start referring to as “KDH”) is a movie that I would watch again, and again, and again. The movie contains great characters, with my favorite being Bobby (my gurls!) and Mira. This movie has been one of the things that I’ve been hooked on, and one of the few actual movies I have watched in recent history. Another one of the most identifiable aspects of KDH is its memes, various quotes, images, and… Soda Pop (it’s infectious…). My favorite thing about this movie is just… everything. The art style is comedic and vibrant, the characters are comical and well-played, with the most attention-grabbing aspect: the songs. “What it Sounds Like”, “Golden,” “Soda Pop”―all of them are great (some better than others), and I couldn’t ask for more. Another thing! The way the weapons are handled in the movie is majestic. Like the way that Mira wields her weapon (which is a Gokdo), the flow seems effortless and graceful. Yes, Zoey and Rumi have their own gimmicks, but in my opinion, they are less… flashy compared to Mira.
Kpop Demon Hunters will always have a special section of my very, very cold heart, and will be my favorite movie… unless I actually watch others.
Anyways, if I go any further, I may be told to trim it down many notches. Anywho, welcome back to the High School, Tigers, and enjoy your new year, even if the classes are boring. Have a wonderful day! Until next time…
