In the early evening of September 6th, only one day after school had started, the first event of the school year took place. As neon-dressed fans filled the stadium, our football team was warming up for the first game of the year. When the clock struck seven o’clock, the student section was at full force and everyone was dressed in their 80’s garb. The football team did not disappoint, starting the quarter off well with the first touchdown. But of course it wasn’t the only one of the night. As our team kept scoring, while the rivals of the night, East Jefferson, didn’t. As the game progressed, Granite gained more and more points. Battling the other team for every yard, preventing them from scoring even one point by the end of the game.
In the end, our team walked away with the big win, scoring 68-0. Even though it was evident that we were winning the majority of the game, the team didn’t let that get in the way. In the last couple minutes of the fourth quarter, freshman Kolby Mcknight miraculously scored another touchdown for the Tigers out of nowhere. The crowd went crazy celebrating the great end to the start of the season.
