In the Granite Falls High School, we used to have a club fair. Now what is a club fair? A club fair is where each club at the school has their own set up area and students can walk from booth to booth and receive information on each club. Since the high school stopped hosting a club fair for the students, participation in clubs has decreased significantly. Some clubs even stopped running. Clubs need support to run, which means they need students to be involved. But how can a club gain students if none of the students know about the club? Well that is why the Granite Falls High School should bring back the club fair. Without the club fair the only way that students even find out about a club is by hearing it from someone, but by hearing it by word of mouth they may not get all of the information to sign up. A club fair advocates for clubs and gives the correct information out by the students and advisor who are actually in the club.
The Granite Falls High School used to be a home for numerous clubs, but now it’s shortened down to only a small few. The school is always advocating for student involvement, but the students don’t even know what they should be involved in or what interests them. Not all students have the time to go to four different club meetings in a week in the hopes of finding something that may interest them. If there were a club fair, it would only take one day after school for a student to find something that interests them. Many students go through their whole high school career without finding any extracurriculars that they love to do. Extracurriculars give students an opportunity to meet new people, experience the freedom of community that they can’t necessarily get during school hours, and allows students to engage in activities that they may not find within the typical six periods every day. A club fair is a necessity to grow clubs. If the school wants more involvement in extracurriculars a club fair would be the way to go.
