Snuggled up between the old Tom Thumb Grocery store and J&K auto shop, sits Peg’s Rags, a hidden gem just waiting to be found in Granite. Coming from the big city of Seattle, Peg brought us our own clothing store, bringing with it a strong sense of community built around the little shop. “I’ve just always loved collecting things, finding treasures and I love working with people.” Preferring Granite to the bustling times in Seattle, Peg shares “It’s a rare community. It’s like old school and it’s just awesome.”
Though only being open for a little while, she’s certainly making her mark already. Gathering up loyal customers left and right, going there once will have you hooked. Looking forward to the racks that are always filled with new to gently used clothing and shelves piled high with precious antiques. Even through the pouring rain of the upcoming seasonal weather, this oasis greets everyone with the warmth of a home rather than a stuffy business.
Having two kids in the highschool, one of which being in band, and getting to know several band members through chaperoning trips, Peggy is a big supporter of raising money through donations. The band does not have that much funding, and if something gets broken it would be hard to replace. Because her business does not depend on clothing donations she hopes that the donations she takes can be used to help the community, including the bands and the community coalition.
After being asked if there was anything she wanted to add, Peg only said she wanted to let everyone know that she thanks you for coming into the shop. “I appreciate them coming in and supporting my business more than they know.”
