Sarah Douglas (Freshman) has some things to say: She shared with me her least favorite pet peeve which is common among some teachers, “When teachers give zeros before the assignment is due!” and by experience, I can agree it’s frustrating!
Of course, though, there is a good side to everything. I also asked her about some of her favorite classroom things, and she said: “I love it when teachers ask open questions and give me feedback on assignments.” Do you agree that this makes the classroom environment a bit more enjoyable?
Now to my favorite part, inspiring teachers! Although Sarah is only a freshman, she has developed positive relationships with her teachers. “I really like Mr. Kimble’s sense of humor and his teaching style. It has really helped me learn.” She has one more person in mind… “Mr. Wood always asks open-ended
questions, works hard to build relationships with his students, and gives feedback on assignments!”.
Paul Frair (Sophomore) has different classes from Sarah, but some of the same opinions. “I hate it when they assign paperwork and they are out! And the sub has to give the paper out, and we don’t have instructions!” When a sub comes in they just don’t know anything! Ugh! Subs should be more informed, I agree.
And even after that, he can enjoy some things about school. “I like theater because I am allowed to say whatever I want and hear everybody else say whatever they want.” Freedom! Honestly, I can’t think of a better place to share your most out-of-pocket thoughts.
Inspiration, the best part of school! “A teacher I find inspirational is… Mr. McCabe and Mrs. Sullivan… Why, you may be asking?!” He said with gusto. “Mr. McCabe is relaxed in such a fast-paced teaching environment,” and “Mrs. Sullivan can take on so many different jobs and still be composed!” I don’t know how they do it!
Elaina Crooker Robinson (Freshman) is our final interviewee! Let’s start with the cons: “I feel like most teachers expect too much out of freshmen. They always compare us with adults or seniors, yet they are more mature than us” I have experienced this, and I’m sure other students have too! It’s not fun.” Elaina loves to read, so of course, her favorite class is English, “I love to read, and in English, you usually have to read, ” she said with a laugh, “With certain assignments, you have to analyze the character’s decisions and the author’s perspective.”. These are some of her favorite things.
And last but not least instead of a favorite teacher, Elaina decided to go with something essential she needs throughout this year. “The planners Mr. Dinwiddie provided for us definitely helped!” It is so nice to have everything out right in front of you!
