Today we’ll be talking about one of our wonderful teachers here at Granite Falls High School. This teacher is none other than beloved Mrs. Hamilton, who teaches sophomore & junior English this year. We asked Mrs. Hamilton how she manages to maintain her cool while dealing with so many students and she said, “Sometimes kids drive me crazy, but that’s just part of being in a family where, you know, you care about people but they still make you nuts. That’s normal.” She believes that one’s life goals determine what one will strive to be, which is why Mrs. Hamilton’s current goal is to help educate and shape her students to be respectful and caring individuals. She hopes to see her students go out into the world expressing their true selves, and not worrying about having to go with the trends and having the same voice or opinions as everyone else.
How do you know when you’re truly ready to go out into the world?” Many people ask themselves this but never have a direct answer, which is why our teacher gave us this to think about: “We can prepare you as much as we can. But some things you just have to experience to truly understand, and you won’t do that until you get to that place.”
What does Mrs. Hamilton like outside of school? She likes geeky things and she absolutely loves music. She enjoys traveling, spending time with her husband, her spiritual life, and her children. We aren’t just discussing Mrs. Hamilton anymore, but we’re also talking about Amy Hamilton, a citizen of Washington who loves reading, and hanging out with her friends while tackling the difficult job of being a teacher. If there’s one thing to learn from Mrs. Hamilton, it’s that we should learn from old people. But one thing to learn from Amy Hamilton, is to treat others with the utmost respect, and to just find those things that make you grateful to breathe, and soak in the air we are gifted with on this big ol’ rock we call Earth.
